Rods & Reels

The Junior Mates program will be holding a rod and reel maintenance class on April 26th at 1:30 at Popovitch Builders in in Point Pleasant. We’ll work on both casting and conventional reels in a variety of ways as well as rod repair. Please bring along a couple of items you need to work on and if you want to put line on a reel, bring the reel, the line and a rod to hold onto (Please no 130s or 80s…lol). Rods that need guides repaired would be great and if you have a specific color thread you need…bring that too. We’ll repair tips as well, so if you have tips that need to be replaced, pick up the tip at a tackle shop and we’ll put it on. We’re looking for a few volunteers to help with the kids or if you just have some maintenance work bring it along and you can show some of the kids what to do.

Linda B

Captain Al Bessemer has offered up the Linda B for a day of fishing and lobstering.  This very exciting Junior Mate opportunity is scheduled for Saturday June 6th (rain date of 6/13).  We’ll go bottom fishing as well as pull some pots, so it’s a great day of fun.  This too has limited seating so please contact Bill Ruckert to reserve a spot.

First Aid

February 2015

We had nine junior mates attend the three hour First Aid course. There were two instructors plus videos to support the lecture. All the kids were engaged despite the early 9am Saturday start time. They have all been satisfactorily certified in First Aid, which is good for 2 years.  The ID cards will be sent directly to Bill Ruckert via email and he will distribute them to atteendees accordingly.
